101 in 1001.
Okay, I got this idea from someone I went to high school with. Her name is Chelsea. Click the link to go to her blog.
Basically, you make a list of 101 things you want to accomplish in 1001 days. Sounds doable, right? I am a list-making fiend and also, I love setting goals for myself. It’s just the followthrough that sometimes get me. But I want to do this! And I love the feeling of crossing something off a list because it is completed!
The Mission: To complete 101 tasks in 1001 days.
The Criteria: Tasks must be specific, measurable, and well defined. They must also be realistic but require some amount of work to complete.
Started: October 7, 2009.
Deadline: July 4, 2012. I think.
Not Done
In Progress
Completed
1. Get rid of the books in my shelves that I will seriously never read. See: Crazy-Lord-of-the-Rings-like fantasy novels.
2. Make a writing schedule for myself.
3. Adhere to said writing schedule for at least 2 months.
4. Read at least one Pulitzer Prize winning novel a month.
5. Keep up with this blog. Post at least twice a week.
6. Use this blog to review books I have read. Not all the time, don’t worry.
7. Start taking my lunch to work at least 3 times a week for a month.
8. Take off 10 to 20 pounds.
9. Get back to cooking dinner more often. Less sandwiches, more meals. Twice a week for two months.
10. Get some big prints of my wedding pictures to hang up. Like 16×20 big.
11. Make sure Daniel and I get more pictures taken together. We took one last week, and that MAY have been the FIRST since the wedding. That is depressing.
12. Be more frugal in using my Old Navy discount. I won’t divulge here how much I spend there or how much I need to cut back.
13. Add $300 to my savings account every month. At least.
14. Keep up my pen-pal emailing with Randy. Email him at least once a week.
15. Call Sandy at least once a month. Seriously.
16. Visit Alison is Houston.
17. Actually watch one Texas football game with my husband. And wear orange. That is love.
18. Get a promotion.
19. Get a pay raise.
20. Quit smoking.
21. Break myself of my Starbucks-every-day/coffee addiction.
22. Buy a pair of skinny jeans.
23. Visit the Blanton.
24. Make a new chicken dish. Because cooking chicken scares me.
25. Fix a Mexican meal that Daniel will actually enjoy.
26. Make the old man some lemon bars again. Its been too long.
27. Spend a day with my mom making homemade pasta.
28. Make Daniel admit that he “loves” Queenie and doesn’t only “like” her.
29. Teach Queenie not to pull on the leash when we are going for walks.
30. Teach Queenie not to get jealous when Mommy and Daddy kiss and then jump up in the middle of said kissing.
31. Complete all the exercises in “The Lie that Tells a Truth.”
32. Write enough that I feel comfortable sitting down to do just that every day.
33. Write SOMETHING every day. Even if it is a blog, or just an idea in a notepad. It doesn’t have to be pages and pages, just enough that I am thinking with writing in mind.
34. Go see “New Moon.”
35. Re-read the “Twilight” series, before seeing “New Moon.” I just love Edward, okay?
36. Sign up for a writing class. Online or classroom.
37. Decide whether I am going to grad school or not.
38. Make a decision about what I would get my Master’s degree in, if I do go back to school.
39. Buy a Sleep Number bed.
40. Keep the living room chair clean. It is the place I dump my crap when I come home from work. Daniel hates it. I guess I do too, and by the end of the week it is covered with stuff.
41. Use my Pampered Chef Stoneware.
42. Find a new band/artist to love.
43. Find a new favorite author.
44. Re-read “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.” Highlight my favorite parts.
45. Go on a trip. Even if it is to Houston. Or Fredericksburg. Just go somewhere.
46. Make my husband take me out on a date once a month.
47. Make mom buy a dog. She really wants one, but she needs to actually do it.
48. Stop watching so much TV. Seriously.
49. Finish the “Outlander” series. I highly recommend them. Diana Gabaldon, look her up.
50. Change my last name at work.
51. Complete some kind of writing. Even if it is a short story that will never see print. Completion is good.
52. Look for an editing/proofreading job. I love it and am good at it.
…To be continued…

Clearly number 16 is the most important.
17 makes me laugh. It really does.
24- Me too. I’m terrified of any chicken that hasn’t sat in the crock pot all day.
I’ve heard sleep number beds are just a glorified air mattress… I’m just sayin…
PS- This is wonderful.
